Skiing and Snowboarding
Home Base to 18 of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympians, 3 living permanently in Mt Beauty, this picturesque town is the home of some of Australia's finest winter athletes. Falls Creek is where they train, and is an excellent ski resort for all grades of skier/snowboarder, and only a 45 -50 minutes drive from Cedar Lodge. The road is sealed, however, chains need to be carried in the winter months.
Cross Country Skiing
Mt Beauty is the home to Australia's only international ski race, The Kangaroo Hoppet which is held on the last weekend of August each year. The 42km marathon Kangaroo Hoppet, the 21km Birkiebeiner and 7km Joey Hoppet draws skiers from all over the world to our tiny town. The race start is signalled by cannons brought in by the Army, town crier's and even dog-sleds can be found in the festivities. The original 1956 Melbourne Olympic Flame (found years later in someones garage) is lit surrounded by flags from all competing countries.

Cycling
There are cycle ways all over the township of Mt Beauty, as well as longer rides out through the Kiewa Valley . Turn right at the Bogong Pub and ride all the way out to the base of Victoria's highest mountain, Mt Bogong. A beautiful ride. Or for the more professional the 230 km Bogong Alpine Way which is part of the Great Alpine Rd awaits.
The Audax 3 Peaks Cycle Race comes past Cedar Lodge each January. Turn right at the front of Cedar Lodge and keep on going up past Falls Creek and beyond. (Advisable only in Spring/ Summer/ early Autumn. )
Mountain Biking
There is a world class Mountain Bike track right at the top of the township, ideal for professionals of the sport ( some are from Mt Beauty). There are 100's of tracks .The National Mountain Biking championships are held here Oct-Nov. For more info Google Team Mt Beauty, for all forthcoming events. There is a map of the trails in on the wall in Cedar Lodge.
Hiking ... Fill your lungs with clear alpine air and hike through the stunning Alpine National Park. Visit the Cattlemen history around Wallaces Hut. Maps are available from the Mt Beauty Visitors Centre. Always remember to take warm clothing if hiking in the Alps, as the weather can close in at any time and snow in summer is not uncommon.
Horse Riding
Bogong Horseback Adventures. Turn right at the Bogong Pub and a couple of kms on the left you will find the original Mountain Whip Cracking lady herself, Kath Baird and her husband Steve with their famous Horseback Adventures. From beginners to experienced riders, Kath will lead you through spectacular High Plains scenery on her sturdy mountain brumbies.

Tennis
The Mt Beauty Tennis Club has 4 all weather courts, with artificial grass surface and night lighting. Racquets can be hired from the Alpine Discovery Centre. Location, Tennis Court Ave. Right in town. Honour Box operates.
GOLF. Mt Beauty Golf Club The offers locals and visitors access to 18 challenging holes, all with grass greens. Green fees are moderate and clubs, bag and buggy can be hired at reasonable rates.

Gliding
Some of the most spectacular gliding in Australia can be found just 2km down the road from Cedar Lodge at the Mt Beauty Airfield, just north of the Mt Beauty town. . Gliding around Victoria's highest mountain Mt Bogong , and over the Bright Gap to Mt Buffalo is one of the most scenic flights you can ever take! The Mt Beauty Gliding Club has about 30 members and visitors may take a Trial Instructional Flight with one the highly qualified and experienced instructors. You can view the magnificent mountain scenery from the air, while your friends watch from the front deck of Cedar Lodge.

Hang Gliding
Hang gliders and para -gliders dot the skyscape in the summer months all around the Kiewa Valley.The world class Bogong Cup International Gliding Championships are held in January each year, base camp MT Beauty. See the Visitors Centre for take-off ramps.
White Water Rafting on the Mitta Mitta River Make your group's home base Cedar Lodge and travel from here up to the start of your white water rafting adventure at Omeo. This area offers some of Australia's best Spring /Summer rafting after the snows melt.. 1-2 day trips are offered by companies such as Adventure Canoeing at $370 per person.

Motor Cycling
Summer is where its at for motorcyclists and Alpine Roads!! Cedar Lodge is situated right at the foot of some of the states best motorcycle roads.....ride the Great Alpine Road, Bogong High Plains Road to Omeo and the Omeo Highway, or the absolutely brilliant run from Mt Beauty to Bright on the Tawonga Gap Road, fantastic surface, camber and maintenance,where you will have views of the 1350m high Mt Buffalo and Kiewa Valley Mt Beauty. Or descend the 1600m from Falls Creek to Mt Beauty and Cedar Lodge in less than 30km on a completely winding road! Cedar Lodge is The Perfect Base for all your Spring/ Summer rides. Festivals
Mt Beauty annual Music Muster is great entertainment. Hosted every April, this event attracts a diverse crowd, who come to enjoy world music, bluegrass, country, folk and funk.
